Happy Monday! ππππ»πΎππ Today is the first day of fall. π We hope you all had a great weekend! ππ
The bulletin for Sunday, September 21, The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost, is available here on our website. There are additional copies outside the office. The video of the service is here on our website.
Upcoming Worship Services
September 28, Pentecost 16, Pr. Mark Griesse of Selah, WA, with Communion
October 5, Pentecost 17, Pr. Mark Bertermann of Kennewick, WA, with Communion
Pastor Lutjen has provided us notice that he has received our Call. His hope is to have his final decision to us no later than October 12.
Sunday School this week we tackled βThe Gentile Cause: The Jerusalem Council.β Did all the new believers really have to keep the old Jewish laws to be saved by God? The Jerusalem Council was able to honor Godβs Word and maintain peace and good order in the Church. Weβll find out how they did it. Sunday School meets after worship.
The Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study will next meet on October 8; many of us otherwise have travel plans. We plan on an in depth study of the Book of Job using Concordia's Lifelight curricula. Although we are all familiar with Job's story, this will enable us to study the message's impact on our faith. A copy of the student guide is available for inspection on the library table. Please send a note to Hollie if you plan to attend so we can order additional books.
Greetings from your librarian! We have a new book in our library this month, donated by a member of our congregation and written by: Rev. Timothy Winterstein! βWorshiped and Glorified, A study on the Nicene Creed,β is now available for you to read. You can also listen to him share this book on Issues Etc. It may be used as a small group Bible study, or as a personal devotion. There are study questions at the end of each chapter. As a reminder, our library is robust and full of good Lutheran theology! Books donated should only be through CPH, our LCMS publishing company! Thank you!~ Lorna
Altar Guild is hosting a Free Yard Sale of seasonal items, dΓ©cor, glassware, crafting supplies, and more! πππ―οΈ Please check out the tables in the Old Narthex to find your new treasures. All is free, donations to Altar Guild will be accepted.
In Loving Memory: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 The funeral service for Larry Barger will be Saturday, September 27, at 1:00 pm. Please pray for comfort for Kathryn, Amy, Cynthia, and the rest of their family.
Itβs time to update the Emergency Contacts List, sponsored by our Naomi widowsβ group. This is a low-tech paper list that shows us how to contact your family or friend in case you should have an emergency at church. It supplements the computerized lists that Hollie and the elders have. We want to make sure we have the most current contact information for you. This list will be private and yet accessible in strategic locations in the church. Take an information sheet at the round library table if you need to sign up or make an update. Weβll keep the materials out through the month of September.
We will be revising our Prayer Chain list soon. π Please sign up on the Kiosk to be added to the new Prayer Chain. Talk to Eva Williams with any questions. Thank you for your time to pray for your congregation!
We need cookies for Coffee Fellowship! πͺπͺπͺ Please bring cookies, labeled with the date, and leave them in the freezer in the kitchen.
As Lutheran Women in Mission, we joyfully proclaim Christ, support missions, and equip women to honor God by serving others. On Lutheran Women in Mission Sunday, we remember our past and look to the future. We will celebrate Luther Women in Mission Sunday this year on October 5.
If you havenβt yet, please return your Portals of Prayer survey to Stan or to the office. We will continue to provide the devotionals to all who request them. Digital subscriptions are also available online.
Stewardship is featuring Lutheran Hour Ministries this quarter on our New Bulletin Board in the old narthex. LHM does so many things to spread the Word that one bulletin board is hardly enough! Be sure to stop by and take a look.
Our holiday Special Offerings are coming right up. Which charities shall we give to? This year weβd like to build our local charities list from organizations that you are already working with, or are materially supporting. Visit the table in the narthex and let us know which local charities you support with your time and/or money.
Happy Birthdays π this week to Nikki Johnson and Connor Rosentrater!
The lessons for this Sunday, September 28, The Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost, Divine Service with Communion with Pr. Mark Griesse, will be from Amos 6:1-7; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; and Luke 16:19-31. The lessons link to BibleGateway.com.
Have a great fall week! ππππ»πΎππ God is good, All the time; All the time, God is gooooood!

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
