The LWML Pledge

In fervent gratitude for the Savior’s dying love and His blood-bought gift of redemption, we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest fields, we pledge Him our willing service wherever and whenever He has need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and our gold to extend His kingdom, our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him. Amen.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of those who attended (64) and helped at the 4th Annual “International Springtime Tea” on May 12. Thanks to Thrivent Team Action dollars (Diana Snell) that paid for the supplies and food items needed. We raised approximately $297 from ticket sales for Faith’s Food Bank and also collected around 20 bags of canned good items! And once again a special thank you to all of our gallant gentlemen waiters (Terry Richmond, Robert Brunner, Carl Ericksen, Ron Kerby, Eric Loebsack, and Connor Hawks) that served all of the ladies; you are truly a blessing in your service for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A special reception was held for Faith’s graduating seniors (Kerstin Ericksen and Taylor Maydole) on June 3 after service with two beautiful cakes in the Fellowship Hall. Women’s Circle of Faith honored them each with a Concordia College Devotional book and a beautiful music box with a Christian insert, and Tabitha gave each a beautiful quilt. The Lord bless you and guide you as you start a new journey in your young lives.

Barb Miller, Sharon Richmond, and Karen Turnipseed were the three LWML members that attended and Pastor Winterstein as our Pastoral Counselor – East. We had a great time of fellowship and worship celebrating the LWML’s 75th anniversary! We had an awesome Bible study/Guest Speaker, Jan Struck, who led us in a faith-filled study with joy and humor. We also elected a new WA/AK president, Marilee Ryan and passed 16 new mission grants to support with our mites in the amount of $98,700 for the 2018-2020 biennial. Thank you to all in the congregation who donated items for the ingathering for Life Services of Spokane for infants and mother’s in need; over 700 pieces of infant clothing , 73 baby toiletries, 56 infant equipment, 38 pieces of maternity clothing, 140 “mom” toiletries, and 19 gift cards were collected by all societies in the WA/AK district. Praise God for all His blessings! Thanks to Marita Hinderer we were able to donate four crocheted sleeping (6’ x 3’) mats made from plastic grocery bags to the homeless outreach centers of Spokane. Thank you, Marita, for all of your loving and faithful service in Christ!

March 2018

Spring is just around the corner! As we wait for the warming of the earth and new life to emerge all around us, I am reminded of our Lenten Season and the anticipation of our Lord and Savior’s resurrection and the new life He has given as a gift of grace for all those who believe in Him.

We started off the Lenten Season by serving hot cross buns prior to the Ash Wednesday Service, February 14, starting at 6:00 pm. According to historical records, the last time that Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day were on the same day was in 1945! Lenten Soup Suppers will be hosted by various groups during the five remaining Wednesdays of Lent: February 21: Altar Guild/ Tabitha; February 28: LWML Women’s Circle; March 7: Men’s Friday Morning Bible Study; March 14: Women’s Friday Morning Bible Study; March 21: Congregational Sign-up Sheet.

The LWML Spring Joy Shop will be hosted by Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Coulee on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 9:00 am–2:30 pm. The theme will be “Love Grows,” based on Ephesians 3:17-18. The ingathering will be for CareNet; a resource for pregnant women/teens/mothers to obtain needed baby items. Please watch for information on the LWML Bulletin Board and the Narthex Kiosk.

Our meeting for this month will be in the church Fellowship Hall on March 6 at 7:00 pm. The Christian Growth Devotion will be “Women with Jesus at the Cross and the Tomb” presented by Sharon Richmond. We will be exchanging names for secret-prayer-sisters, continuing the long tradition of supporting a sister-in-Christ with special prayers and surprise “hugs” during the season of Lent.

Plans are being finalized for the 4th Annual Springtime Tea, May 12, Saturday, 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. The theme for this year is “An International Tea.” This event is for ladies of all ages in our congregation and other women in their lives as well. Inviting unchurched friends is encouraged! More details will be available soon.

The large Mite Box will be in the Narthex, Sunday, March 4.

We encourage all women of Faith to join us in the privilege of “Serving the Lord with Gladness”; Psalm 100:2
